Do Golden Palace?s controversial marketing strategies work?- 2004-12-15

Golden Palace has gone to great lengths in order to differentiate its self from the thousands of casinos on the internet. Their unique advertising strategies have won much acclaim not to mention much criticism and have become a subject of great debate as to their effectiveness.

Throwing caution to the wind

Streaking at major sporting events has been Golden Palace’s main advertising strategy. Streakers sporting temporary Golden Palace tattoos across their mid sections have paraded at the French Open, The Super Bowl, The Olympics, The EUFA Cup final, PGA tournaments, and many other big sporting events. The purpose of these stunts has been to expose a wide audience to their brand and most importantly their URL.

The trickle down effects of their advertising are priceless. In addition to exposing millions of sport enthusiasts to their name and URL, major news networks, late night talk shows, radio talk shows and newspapers pick up these stories and propagate them to the general population and in turn through word of mouth become regularly talked about subjects amongst colleagues and friends. The exposure they receive from one event let alone all the events combined far out weigh their costs.

Buying bizarre items on E-bay

Recently, Golden Palace has switched their focus from streaking to buying outlandish items on e-bay and sponsoring high profile events. Their latest acquisitions on e-bay include, a walking cane possessed by a ghost ($65,000), David Beckham’s missed penalty kick (ball) at the World Cup of soccer ($35,000) and last but not least their crown jewel a 10 year old half eaten grilled cheese sandwich with the image of the Virgin Mary ($28,000). These purchases have all been highly publicized in the news due to their strange nature and the outrageous prices paid for these items.

The purpose of Golden Palace’s advertising efforts are to drive as much traffic as possible to their website. Through their crazy stunts and unique brand of marketing they managed to achieve this goal. According to Casino City, Golden Palace is the 2nd most popular casino on the internet (Casino on Net being #1). Whether all this traffic translates into real money players is still not known what is known is that Golden Palace will continue coming up with new ways to make the news.
