Keeping your casino clean: a dirty business?- 2005-11-25

It seems ever since casinos first went into operations con artists and sneaky employees alike have repeatedly found new ways of beating the “House”. The clever ones get lucky while the clumsy ones get caught in this perpetual cycle.

We’ve all heard the saying “taking someone to the cleaners” used figuratively, however in a Slovenian casino where female custodians are deem to have perpetuated infractions this term took on an entire new meaning just recently.

Casino Korona in the Kranjska Gora ski has been the setting for an investigation concerning two cleaning ladies accused of swindling over £330,000.00. The alleged suspects are said to have used their giant industrial vacuum cleaners to suck cash out of casino slot machines while performing their rounds.

The casino floor manager and security personnel became suspicious upon seeing money frequently disappear from the slots after the establishment’s opening hours. Their attention immediately turned to the cleaning staff comprising the majority of employees in the building at this time.

Our “intelligent” crooks were convinced their sanitary actions would go unnoticed being they left the crime scene spotless every time. Nevertheless, dirt always finds a way to resurface somehow.
